The government crackdown on railway ticket scalpers was intensified yesterday with Guangdong railway police offering rewards of up to 500,000 yuan ($73,200) for tip-offs on scalpers.

Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested the drug smugglers.(警方根据密报逮捕了毒品走私者)。

Did Nancy want him to tip off the police confidentially?(南希是否希望他秘密地向警方通个风)? I feel that what the informant says may well be true.(我认为那个告密者说的可能是真的)。

The judge called for a pitcher of water, a tip -off that the session would be long.(法官要了一大杯水,这表明审判要持续很长一段时间)。在篮球比赛时,tip-off专指开球时的跳球,而the tip-off of a cigar则是指"香烟的末端"。

In the climax of the Fiesta de Santa Fe (held this year on the night of September 10), a solemn procession carries candles to the Cross of the Martyrs. The cross memorializes the Spanish victims of the 1680 revolt, when the region's Pueblo Indians rose up in violent protest against their mistreatment and burned the city.

They are directly from America

Not long after an old Chinese woman came back to China from her visit to her daughter in the States, she went to a city bank to deposit the US dollars her daughter gave her. At the bank counter, the clerk checked each note carefully to see if the money was real. It made the old lady out of patience. At last she could not hold any more, uttering. "Trust me, Sir, and trust the money. They are real US dollars. They are directly from America."
