Hustler在英语中确实有多种涵义，先看引起舆论哗然的“妓女”一意，在俚语中，hustler可以解释为： a prostitute who attracts customers by walking the streets（到街上拉客的妓女），其同义词有：streetwalker或street girl。

另外，俚语中，hustler也可解释为：a shrewd or unscrupulous person who knows how to circumvent difficulties（精明的算计者，骗子，赌徒），如：Our neighbors paid thousands of dollars to that hustler. （我们的邻居被那个骗子骗了几千元。） 1962年奥斯卡获奖影片“The Hustler”，其中文译名为《江湖浪子》，影片以写实手法描写了以打台球赌博为生的年轻职业球手艾迪所生存的的残酷世界。
